Since January 1st 2020, the Federal Insurance Agency has been called the Federal Social Security Agency (BAS). The new name reflects the constant increase in tasks and makes clear the diverse examination and administration tasks of BAS. Thus, the Federal Social Security Agency is responsible for supervising federal carriers of statutory health, pension and accident insurance as well as social long-term care insurance.
