Our expectations of you

Qualifications

• Scaling & High Availability: You understand the mechanisms behind sharding, replication, election processes, and read/write concerns, and know how to design clusters that are resilient across multiple data centers or regions.
• Data Modeling: You know how to design efficient schema designs, aggregation pipelines, and index strategies for high-performance queries across distributed data sets.
• Automation: Using tools like Ansible, Terraform, or scripting languages (Python, Bash), you automate provisioning, configuration, and the operation of entire clusters.
• Container platforms: Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift are essential tools for you to operate database clusters consistently and efficiently.
• Monitoring & Backup: You use tools such as MongoDB Ops Manager, Prometheus, Grafana, or the ELK Stack for cluster monitoring and implement robust backup and recovery strategies for distributed environments.
• Security-conscious: For you, data security always comes first. You are familiar with authentication (LDAP, Kerberos), role-based access control (RBAC), encryption, and auditing, and you ensure that security vulnerabilities have no chance.
• Strong communication skills: You know that good knowledge must be shared. You feel comfortable in a team and can convey complex issues clearly and understandably.
• Eager to learn: The IT world is changing rapidly, and you are always ready to learn new things and develop further.
• Adventurous traveler: You are open to assignments with our clients and see this as an opportunity to broaden your horizons.
• Language talent: You have at least a C1 level in German. English skills are a definite plus.

Experience

• Cluster Expert: You have proven, several years of experience in building and operating entire MongoDB clusters in production environments - from designing replica sets and sharding strategies to managing MongoDB Atlas or Enterprise Advanced at scale.
• Cloud topics: You already have experience with operating distributed databases in cloud environments based on MS Azure, Amazon Web Services, or Google Cloud Platform.
