Your role in the team
- Flow sensors are among the essential functional components of every ventilator or anesthesia machine.
- As a Sensor Systems Engineer (m/f/d), you will be responsible for the development, characterization, and integration of flow sensors in complex pneumatic medical devices—from requirements definition and system integration through to verification and technical documentation.
- As the interface between component and device development, you are part of an interdisciplinary development team and ensure that our flow sensors operate accurately, robustly, and safely under real-world clinical conditions: with different gas mixtures, temperatures, humidity levels, condensate, leaks, and throughout the product’s entire lifecycle.
- Development of system requirements and technical concepts for flow sensors in ventilators and anesthesia devices.
- Evaluation and selection of suitable sensor technologies in terms of accuracy, robustness, and performance.
- Development of the sensor technology in close coordination with the device development teams.
- Integration of sensors into complex pneumatic systems and optimization of relevant system characteristics.
- Conducting engineering tests and supporting verification and validation activities.
- Analysis of measurement deviations and development of compensation and diagnostic concepts.
- Conducting risk analyses and maintaining the associated development documentation.
- Collaborating with suppliers and supporting the transfer to series production.
Our expectations of you
Education
- Completed degree in medical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, physics, mechanical engineering, or a comparable field.
Qualifications
- Structured, analytical approach to work and strong ability to collaborate in interdisciplinary teams.
- In-depth knowledge of at least one flow measurement principle, ideally thermal anemometry, differential pressure, or MEMS-based measurement methods.
- Confident handling of measurement data acquisition and statistical data analysis.
- Good knowledge of at least one programming language.
- Very good German and good English skills.
- Knowledge of pneumatics, breathing gas physics, and condensate management.
- Knowledge of the biocompatibility, cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of medical devices.
Experience
- Several years of experience in the development, characterization, or integration of sensor, measurement, or flow systems.
- Experience in defining technical requirements as well as in verification and testing processes.
- Experience with flow sensing in ventilation, anesthesia, or comparable medical gas flow systems.
- Experience with calibration strategies, drift compensation, and signal processing.
What we offer
- Attractive compensation in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement, including various special payments.
