Your role in the team
- Full-stack development (Edge to Cloud): You develop the core components of our Heartbeat AI Enterprise energy management system—both locally on our IoT gateways (Edge) and at scale in our cloud-native backend architecture.
- Gateway programming (Go & Lua): You write high-performance code for our edge controllers. With Go, you build robust system services and communication layers; with Lua, you create lightweight, dynamically configurable control scripts and protocol drivers for inverters, BESS, and HVAC systems.
- Cloud Services & Microservices: You design and develop scalable microservices in Go in the cloud backend to process time-series data and telemetry, and to manage fleets across hundreds of customer sites.
- Interfaces & Protocols: You implement communication protocols for IoT environments (MQTT, REST/gRPC) as well as for local system communication (Modbus TCP/RTU).
- VPP & Trading Integration: You enable the seamless flow of data between local assets (meter readings, flexibility) and our Virtual Power Plant for automated control based on spot market prices.
- Agile collaboration: You work closely with system architects, PLC developers, and product management in a cross-functional team to rapidly deliver new features for commercial energy management to the platform.
Our expectations of you
Education
- Completed degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a comparable qualification, or substantial professional experience in software development.
Qualifications
- In-depth understanding of cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.
- Confident working knowledge of common network and IoT protocols (such as MQTT and REST), ideally with some exposure to industrial communication protocols (Modbus).
- A structured, solution-oriented approach to work and the motivation to actively contribute to building Europe’s largest decentralized virtual power plant.
- Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken.
Experience
- Very strong programming skills in Golang (Go), ideally in cloud and microservices environments, as well as hands-on experience with the Lua scripting language (e.g., for embedded/edge applications).
- Experience developing IoT solutions or edge computing applications, preferably on Linux-based systems (e.g., Raspberry Pi, industrial PCs).
What we offer
- You have the option to work from our brand-new offices in central Hamburg, Berlin, and Munich, and/or remotely.
- Use your technical equipment in your free time, too.
- You’ll be part of a fast-growing company with plenty of room for growth, where you can build something independently and see the impact you make.
- Work in a flat hierarchy, take on responsibility from the very start of your onboarding, and collaborate directly with members of the management team.
- Through your work, you support the megatrend of the energy and mobility transition and make a tangible contribution to the sustainable transformation of our energy infrastructure.
