IT Specialist - Storage Systems & Virtual Infrastructure

As part of our infrastructure team, you ensure that the storage and backup systems of our data center operate reliably, securely, and efficiently at all times. You work with state-of-the-art enterprise hardware and take responsibility for the smooth operation of the underlying Linux environment.

In detail, this means:

• You operate the storage infrastructure of our core IT: You install, configure, and administer SAN directors and access switches (Broadcom) as well as core/edge storage systems from Hitachi (G5600) and Fujitsu (DX series including Quorum / GAD). You ensure that storage networks and protocols (S3 / File) function smoothly.
• They ensure data reliability: You operate and monitor our backup systems, including Virtual Tape Libraries (Centrics Store) and Tape Robots (Scalar i6000, FTS/Quantum). You ensure that backup and recovery processes are always available and tested.
• They operate virtual Linux systems for internal use: Based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8, they administer virtual servers running key components of the storage and backup infrastructure.
• You keep track: You monitor systems, analyze error messages, and resolve issues independently or within a team - with the goal of ensuring a stable and secure IT environment.
• You actively contribute: You plan, design, and document IT operational processes, participate in projects such as tech refreshes or system migrations, and drive automation with your own scripts (e.g., Bash, Python).
• They prioritize security and compliance: They act in accordance with BSI guidelines and ensure that all systems and processes meet high security standards.
• You work in a team to ensure smooth operations: alternately taking on early and late shifts (between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.), as well as on-call duties (alert via phone, SMS, messaging). Three to four times a year, you travel to other locations within Germany to accompany on-site projects or maintenance.
