Your role in the team
- Lateral Leadership & Team Building: You provide functional and lateral leadership to the newly formed team (approx. 6–7 experts in hardware services and platform operations), ensure sustainable skills and capacity management, and foster an open culture of learning from mistakes and feedback.
- Strategy & Roadmap: You are responsible for the strategic development of the “One Device Strategy” and the target architecture for mobile devices at Hermes. You translate requirements from Operations, Sales, and IT into an actionable roadmap, while also challenging current processes in the requesting departments with your expertise in mobile device innovation.
- Binding service commitments & SLAs: Where measurable KPIs have been lacking, you work with business units and service providers to define binding Service Level Agreements (SLAs/SLOs), oversee performance tracking, and professionally manage interfaces and escalations.
- Operating System & Lifecycle Governance: Together with your team, you ensure standardized, largely automated testing and release processes for customized Android OS updates, security patches, and app rollouts across more than 15 internal business applications. Looking ahead, you will evaluate and design core platform services and shared components that app teams can use modularly.
- Process Management: You ensure end-to-end transparency across hardware flows in field operations, working closely with business stakeholders.
- Service Provider & Procurement Management: You support upcoming hardware tenders, optimize supplier and repair processes (RMA), and collaborate across the group to unlock synergies.
- Compliance & Budget: You keep track of the team’s cost planning, output, and impact, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (such as KRITIS and InfoSec).
Our expectations of you
Qualifications
- Conflict management & stakeholder skills: Excellent communication skills, diplomatic tact, and assertiveness to successfully drive cross-functional change, even when friction arises.
- Mindset: A hands-on mentality combined with the determination and perseverance to challenge established structures, break down silos, and pragmatically build a new team.
- Language skills: Fluent German and good written and spoken English.
Experience
- Experience & Leadership Skills: Several years of professional experience in IT product, platform, or service management—ideally with a proven track record of leading agile or cross-functional teams without formal authority.
- Service and process orientation: Experience in establishing SLAs/SLOs, managing vendors and service providers, and structuring hardware lifecycle and rollout processes.
- Technical understanding & platform expertise: You have a solid technical understanding of how hardware, operating systems, and applications work together, and ideally have experience in mobile device management or operating an Android-based hardware fleet.
